Kasbah Derkaoua is a real hostel and campsite
Auberge Kasbah Derkaoua Arid desert strewn with stones, hectares of sand in the warmth under the sun; in the distance, a few cacti light up the greyness, rock that gives shelter to the dozing camel. Such was Derkaoua at the dawn of this year 1988, when an inspired, poet in his spare time, had the illumination to sow the first seed of what will be the inn and the fountain. Michel of his name, supported by this other madman of the dunes, Said, built against all logic the Auberge Derkaoua, where Merzouga was a lost corner, without any reputation. This lifeless expanse has come back to life thanks to the fame it has begun to gain. More and more tourists come to discover these endless dunes, this marvelous world.
